Hi all,
Now we're down to one CLOWNspeak server I've taken the liberty of reorganising it a little, tweaking the channels etc
Settings
Each channel uses a codec to compress your voice and decompress it at the other end. I've reduced the codec bitrate (bitrate = amount of data per second) by one notch as some people experience breakups in-game. Basically higher bitrate = higher quality, more or less. The highest bitrate we can support is the highest bitrate the person with the slowest connection can support.
However I've added a couple of "high quality" channels designed for small groups of people with reasonably good connections. Feel free to use these within groups if you normally find Teamspeak a bit low quality. The first two channels use progressively higher versions of the standard CLOWNspeak codec settings, but the third channel uses GSM - which is the same as your mobile phone uses. I'll be tweaking these with feedback from users.
Channels
The current channel list is as below:
CLOWNspeak
- General (RD)
-
AFK (R)
- EVE Online (RS)
-- Channel 1
-- Channel 2
- Other (RS)
-- High Quality Channel 1
-- High Quality Channel 2
-- High Quality Channel 3
- WoW (RS)
-- Alliance
-- Battleground - Alterac Valley
-- Battleground - Arathi Basin
-- Battleground - Warsong Gulch
-- Horde
-- Raid Channel 1
-- Raid Channel 2
-- WoW Newbie (Swedish Channel)
For an up-to-date list see the
CLOWNspeak status page.
Basically I've reduced the number of channels because most weren't being used. I may reduce them further - e.g. in WoW I may just have five or so generic channels, but want your comments on this.
Channels are categorised by game now.
OK generally if people have any comments and feedback please post it below. I'm particularly interested in Teamspeak performance and quality issues and ideas for things you'd find useful on CLOWNspeak. Also do UO clowns want a channel? Please please please comment below
